Announcing The Guide to FamilySearch Online

During the past few months, with permission from FamilySearch, I have been writing a guide to the online websites sponsored by FamilySearch. The sites include, FamilySearch.org, New.FamilySearch.org, Wiki.FamilySearch.org, Indexing.FamilySearch.org, Forums.FamilySearch.org and others. The book has 367 pages and will be published by Bookmark Graphics, printed by Y Mountain Press and sold, online, through the BYU Bookstore. As soon as the book is available, I will be posting a direct link to where it can be purchased. The price will be $39.95. Neither FamilySearch nor The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are in any way responsible for the content of the book.

Writing the book has been an interesting undertaking. I have already started the next book and have two more planned in the future. I am sure I will have more ideas by the time the next three are finished. One of the challenges of writing such a book is that FamilySearch is a moving target. I had to revise the entire book when they changed some of the basic ways the websites worked. Y Mountain Press is an "on demand" printer, so any future revisions of the book can be made without having a formal re-printing. Likewise, anyone purchasing the book can be assured that the information contained in the book about the websites is as up-to-date as possible in a print edition book.

Watch for the announcement of the book's availability. It should be ready to order in the next week or so.

  1. When will the e-book be available?

  2. Ditto Rosemary's question. It would be great to have an e-version. Portable AND saves trees. And, thanks for all your hard work on this, James!

  3. Since this is a book about the internet and resources will it be available online or via ebook?
