A Week at the Family History Library and looking forward

I just spent five days at the Family History Library. I did do some personal research, but a lot of my time was spent helping others with their genealogy and teaching a few classes. I can report that the library is extremely busy and some areas are crowded and the staff overwhelmed. Everyone in the Family History Expos Retreat was able to make substantial progress on their research. We look forward to doing it all over again in October. I am looking forward to spending a lot of time in May at the Mesa FamilySearch Library, mainly teaching classes. They have me scheduled for at least six classes a week right now and probably more will be added.

We are also doing a series of Webinars (that stay online as webcasts) for the Mesa FamilySearch Library. I will do one on the FamilySearch Wiki on April 24, 2013 at 7:00 pm and one on an Introduction to Online Genealogical Resources on May 1, 2013, also at 7:00 pm.

Part of the classes I will be teaching in May is a series of 13 classes on Breaking Down Genealogical Brick Walls. This research series will cover all aspects of research and focus on different types of documents in each class.

It looks like a busy month of May.

  1. Wish I were in Mesa to attend some of your classes. I just became a volunteer at the Riverton Family History Library.
