A <a href="http://jobsearch.monster.com/PowerSearch.aspx?q=Linguistics" rel="nofollow">quick search on Monster.com</a> results in 347 job openings (compared to 15 for genealogy). They're getting hired by Google and other tech companies to work on things like machine translation and speech-to-text.
