I like it. somewhere I read that Genealogy,...Hmmm. I like it. somewhere I read that Genealogy, 'the science', relates to the child-parent relation ship alone and only. This is the transfer and evolution of genetic material among humans; (horse & dogs too for those that have those interests.). Once a person is identified and documented to exist, then the 'rest is history' so to speak. Genealogy becomes an 'Art' where the history of a person is documented (or not) and generally written about in free-form prose. Every event in a person's life from birth to death is an event of history. It need not be proven; just as with any mythology. However the event produce information which can tell a story, and the artistry in that can be fascinating. It is interesting James that the pursuit of ancestral knowledge is undertaken as a hobby, as a pastime or obsession by folk who might have scholarly skills or those devoid of any learning or insight of the subject. A communal culture exists where groups impart; shall I say 'help' in a ad-hoc, ill disciplined way. The guidelines, splendid as my be are often ignored for independence & self-centred methodologies.<br /> Enough of this. Cheers. Barry P. 08/02/2014Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
