After all Adam and Eve's children had to be marrying their brothers and sisters so they all had the same parents. :-)James Tannerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02989059644120454647noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1527613590529958801.post-5393881341135753872016-09-09T16:52:18.225-07:002016-09-09T16:52:18.225-07:00I started reading your posts daily a couple of yea...I started reading your posts daily a couple of years ago and it has greatly enlarged my understanding of genealogy. I really appreciate and learn from what you do. I began as a neophyte - and I still am in many ways. But, thanks to you, I have come to understand many of the concepts and principles related to this field.

I liked today's post about "Two to the Tenth Power and Genealogy: Thoughts on Reality." However, it seems there is one consideration you did not mention in this post (unless I somehow missed it). If we continued to follow the logic of your post, all the way back to Adam, the number of ancestors would be astronomical. The only problem is, that if I could find my genealogy that far back, my ancestors at that level would only be 2. Two people that is, Adam and Eve. So at some point, when you go back far enough, and I certainly don't know when that is, the expansion described in your post begins to shrink in like manner, until it comes back to just the two: Adam and Eve. And although the expansion "cone" reverses and becomes more narrow at some point as we go back, the descendant "cone" continues to expand at a rapid rate.

Just a thought. Thanks for what you are doing.

Carvel Whiting
carvelwhiting@gmail.com
Carvelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15389818933229545373noreply@blogger.com
