I then use the 'restore' feature on my genealogy program and put the updated information & exhibits on a second computer. The results are I have a current database on my desktop, laptop, and flashdrive.TCasteelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01261694755025450452noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1527613590529958801.post-721410829834300172010-02-05T04:50:16.999-07:002010-02-05T04:50:16.999-07:00Being a "serious genealogist" doesn'...Being a "serious genealogist" doesn't preclude one from having a little fun now and then. Recognizing that none of our backup devices are eternal in nature, I suggest putting as much of our family history online as possible, in one form or another, which of course, may not be entirely reliable either.

We scatter our "seeds of research knowledge" far and wide and hope for the best. I just thought I'd add that before I go out of town I back-up all important files to a flash drive and put it in our safe deposit box. It fits better than a CD or DVD:)Becky Higginshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04375430428083496025noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1527613590529958801.post-6653616152198737792010-02-04T08:58:56.494-07:002010-02-04T08:58:56.494-07:00James,

As I am beginning my 41 years in chasing my tree and I still admit to being one who goes to libraries, court houses and visits cemeteries in person I would not have thought of the need to wear a flash drive. As I have an old 128mb which is well over twice the size of the 8gb I am sure it would be most visible to those of us with diminished eye sight. Also it was good to hear a rather positive take on the flash drives of today.Norm Princehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05059671755034635586noreply@blogger.com
