Capturing images from damaged documents

Some of the presentations at RootsTech are more on the tech side than others. This presentation entitled "Using Advanced Photographic Techniques to Recover Content from Damaged Documents" by Jack Reese of Ancestry.com was certainly technical. Absent my extensive photography background, I am sure that the presentation would have been difficult to follow. I was hoping there was a simple and inexpensive way to enhance unreadable documents but the reality is that it requires specialized equipment and very expensive quartz camera lenses. Oh well, you can't win them all. It is helpful to know that with the proper equipment many types of damaged documents, even those blackened in a fire, can be photographed and the contents of the documents retrieved.

On to the next presentation, then another interview and done for the day.
