Cloud Computing from Josh Taylor

Cloud computing is not just a passing fad or a techy buzzword, it is reference to using online programs and data storage to augment and secure your own personal computer. D. Joshua Taylor's presentation is being carried live on the RootTech.org website.

  1. The thing people need to remember about "cloud computing" is that all that it means is you are putting your stuff on someone else's server. Just be sure of whose server it is. Do you trust the company who owns the server? How secure is their security? Are there provisions for when their server is down -- because at some time or another, every server will go down. What happens to your data if the server fails altogether?

Personally, I'm not impressed with "the cloud" -- i.e., with putting my information on someone else's server.
