2013 BYU Conference on Family History and Genealogy -- Call for Papers

According to a press release from the Brigham Young University (BYU) Conference Center, proposals are now being accepted for the 2013 BYU Conference on Family History and Genealogy which will be held Tuesday, July 30 through Friday, August 2, 2013. The Conference takes place on the beautiful BYU Campus in Provo, Utah.

I have attended the Conference in past years, but lately find that the schedule conflicts with other commitments I have during the same time period. It is a four day conference and emphasizes practical research. The topics requested for this year's conference include the following:
• Getting started in family history
o Classes specifically designed for those who never have done research
o Other beginner topics
• Using computers, technology and the Internet for research
• Research methodology: research process, pedigree analysis, evidence
evaluation, tracing immigrants, etc.
• International record sources and research methodologies
• Beginning, intermediate, and advanced research methodology in:
o British Isles (England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales)
o Germany
o Scandinavia
o United States—state and regional topics
o Canada
o Other countries and international regions (these presentations may not
be compensated)
• Family organizations and collaboration
• Writing, editing and publishing family history
• Family History Center support and family history consultant training
The deadline for proposals is Monday, 4 February 2013. For more complete information see:
