Advanced 3D system used for shooting "The Hobbit"

Now that Costco and other retailers are routinely selling 3D TV Monitors, you can expect that even smartphones will soon be taking pictures in 3D. Just to let you know where all this coming from and going to, here is a short video on the technical aspects of shooting the new Hobbit movie by Peter Jackson:


  1. The HTC EVO 3D already shoots in 3D so yes, even smartphones. :)

  2. I think I should point out that the cameras they are using cost $43,000 ($58,000 for the complete package). So if you want it to look good, then at some point you have to fork over the cash.
