RootsTech Connect 2022 Update March 2, 2022

So much for posting every day but I will try to post as often as possible. I am guessing that the various genealogy websites and developers are waiting to make their announcements during the days of the actual conference which, of course, makes a lot of sense.

I can include parts of this email from MyHeritage.com that explains about their new podcast.

MyHeritage is thrilled to announce the launch of their first-ever podcast, Blast From My Past — now available wherever you get your podcasts, including Spotify and Apple.

The Blast From My Past podcast will feature the incredible true stories of people whose lives were changed by what they discovered through MyHeritage about their family’s pasts — whether it was a close relative they never knew existed, the key to unlocking an old family mystery, or a newfound connection to a long-forgotten legacy.

The RootsTech.org website is now live for RootsTech Connect 2022. You can now build your personal play list for classes and presentations. Also, the Relatives at RootsTech feature is now live. I checked just as I wrote this post and I have 28,857 so far listed. You need to register for RootsTech and then sign in to see your lists of relatives. Some of my family members already have many more than I do. Do worry if you don't have any relatives at RootsTech, that just means they haven't registered.

The FamilySearch GEDCOM Steering Committee has two videos and will be holding a live, online Q&A Session. Here are the links to each of the videos and to the live Q&A.

FamilySearch GEDCOM 7 - What's Next? Teamwork

FamilySearch GEDCOM 7 Live Q & A Webinar - The Q&A will be online at 3:00 pm, Friday, March 4, 2022.

Here is a statement from RootsTech about the timing of the opening.

After counseling with teams around the world and looking at the regions of the world people are registering, we have decided to open class content to the public starting at 6:00 pm MST TODAY, March 2nd 2022 rather than at 11:00 am MST tomorrow. This will allow people in the Pacific and Asia to start the conference on March 3rd. I know this is exciting news to many of you and disappointing to others. Please share your thoughts with me if this change impacts you negatively. While I may not be able to change things for this year, your comments will help us be better in the future.

The site will be live March 2nd at 6:00pm (MST)

Prerecorded classes will be available for viewing on demand

Chat will be enabled and supported

Expo Hall will be closed until March 3rd at 8:00am (MST)

The first General Session will air on March 3rd at 10:00am (MST)

Stay tuned for more as the conference gets underway.
