Working with FamilySearch Family Tree As the only software certified to add and share data with FamilySearch Family Tree, we have received a lot of questions about "what is FamilySearch Family Tree", "who can access FamilySearch Family Tree", etc. What Do the Different Certifications Mean?
Who Can Use FamilySearch Family Tree? You can use FamilySearch Family Tree directly from their website, or you can use the Tree Share+ integration built into RootsMagic to view your own data side by side with the data available on FamilySearch. If you use the FamilySearch integration built into RootsMagic, you don't have to copy any data from RootsMagic to FamilySearch (or vice versa) unless you want to. You can still look for matches without transferring your data back and forth. Where Can I Learn More About Using RootsMagic with FamilySearch Family Tree?Apparently, I am getting different messages from different parties. |

An Interesting Addition to the Earlier Posts about Family Tree Access and Certification
I just received the following post from RootsMagic.com. In light of the earlier posts about the third-party certifications and access to FamilySearch.org's Family Tree that appeared on FamilySearch.org's Product Page, RootsMagic offers the following from their emailed newsletter and I find this post from RootsMagic very interesting in light of the comments made to my own blog posts in the very short time since they were posted. I am still waiting for FamilySearch to weigh in on this issue. This is the quote from the newsletter:

I have Legacy. I rarely use that aspect of the program -- but I did about a week or so ago (I still have ver 7.5), and I noticed that I was able to download data from FamilySearch, but not upload.
ReplyDeleteWhich happens to sound exactly like the "Tree Connect" certification you describe above . . .
I haven't had time to try all this myself yet. I am buried with work right now, but I will see what I can find out soon. Thanks for your input.
