#RootsTech 2016 -- Salt Lake Survival Guide

If you are coming to #RootsTech 2016 and are from somewhere besides Salt Lake City, Utah, you need to know a few things about the area. I have lived here in Salt Lake and currently live in Provo, Utah but I am a frequent visitor to the Family History Library.

First thing is DRIVERS DO NOT STOP FOR RED LIGHTS. This is a matter of personal survival. Just driving downtown we saw several blatant red light violations. When your light turns green, wait a second to see if all the cars are stopped before driving into the intersection.

Second, Utah has the greatest snow on earth and a lot of it is falling right now during #RootsTech 2016. The sidewalks are slippery even if the snow stops falling. Watch and walk carefully.

Next, wear comfortable shoes. The Salt Palace is two city blocks (big or long) long. You will spend a lot of time walking.

Be sure as ask questions for directions. There will be a lot of different things going on all the tie and you might get overwhelmed.

East is towards the mountains.

Look for people with ribbons on their badges, they usually have some more information than those with just badges. Bloggers have a green bar on their badge that says "Ambassadors." There is also a white Ambassador ribbon. Security for the Conference is supposed to be better than last year so if the doors are closed, you will just have to wait.

Check back here for more information.
